Orlando Ribeiro scientific bibliography (1934-2004) This is a revised edition of the Orlando Ribeiro Scientific Bibliography, encompassing and updating two previous publications: the Bibliografia científica de Orlando Ribeiro, prepared by Ana Amaral and Ilídio do Amaral and published in 1981 by the Centro de Estudos Geográficos de Lisboa; and a second part (1981-1995) compiled by Suzanne Daveau and published in Finisterra, vol. XXXI, issue 61, 1996, p. 87-97. This edition resumes the previous bibliographies adding the publications dated after 1996 as well as some earlier works, absent from the aforementioned bibliographies and found after the authors’ death. These are placed at the end of the lists respecting their year of publication. The present bibliography was prepared and is published in the framework of the project for the organization of the scientific library of Orlando Ribeiro, bequeathed to the Centro de Estudos Geográficos de Lisboa by its owner with the aim of making it available to all interested researchers in adequate conditions. In order to carry out this considerable and complex task, the Centro de Estudos Geográficos has been receiving funding support from the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia and the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Besides the participation of the aforementioned authors, other contributions to the preparation of the present bibliography deserve special mention. For decades, Margarida Ribeiro carried out the compilation of the prolific and varied work of the geographer. More recently, Manuel Ramos Ribeiro and Maria de Lurdes Ribeiro gave also their active collaboration to the organization of the collection maintained in his house of Vale de Lobos. I wish to express my grateful thanks to all of them for their work. The present bibliography consists of about 400 references (376 numbered entries plus 24 additions). In the part elaborated by Ana Amaral and Ilídio do Amaral (the first 296 items) the references are sistematically followed by a short abstract or descritive note, by the latter author. In this edition of the bibliography the references appear in a single chronological list followed, or not, by an abstract or descritive note. Title and subject indexes are in preparation and will be made available when ready.
